3 Skills That Make Great Auditors
Happy New Year from the D.A. team! It’s hard to believe it’s already time to make New Year’s resolutions — it feels like we just set our goals for 2017.
What have you set your sights on for this year? If you’re still looking for your New Year’s resolution, look no further! Boost your career with one of these resolutions:
1. Hone Your Technical Skills
In today’s fast-paced world, auditors must be tech savvy. From drones to self-driving cars, technology shapes the way auditors do their job. As an auditor, you’ll need to adapt to emerging technologies and understand how to use them efficiently and effectively. And of course, being a master of spreadsheets doesn’t hurt. This year, resolve to learn a new tech skill — whether it’s mastering Excel or Google Sheets or learning more about emerging technologies like data analytics.
2. Get Organized
Make 2018 the year you get organized! Whether you take up bullet journaling or finally clean up your email inbox, take this opportunity to focus on getting yourself organized and keep it up for the rest of the year. Auditors have to juggle a lot of details so organizational skills are critical to successfully managing a project.
3. Focus on Communication
While business and auditing involve a lot of technical skills, strong communication makes an auditor go from good to great. Many auditors work in teams and communication skills are crucial. If you already feel confident expressing your own point, learn to listen this year. A great auditor listens to and understands their teammates.
