How Auditors Celebrate #EarthDay

Spring is finally here and it’s now the perfect weather to be outside, soaking up some good Vitamin D! And since you’re going to be outside anyway, you might as well volunteer in your community while enjoying the sun and help us celebrate Earth Day.

Don’t worry. Volunteering for Earth Day will not transport you to the arena for the 76th Hunger Games.

Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970 when an estimated 20 million Americans across the U.S. took to the streets to support a more sustainable environment. Since then, Earth Day has become an annual celebration of our world that anyone can get involved in. So whether you’re an auditor, a marketer, or student, take a break from your computer screen, pick a great organization, and help commemorate the day! You will certainly not be alone—some of the largest public company auditing firms volunteer each year to celebrate.

Check out some of the posts below to see how the world of public company auditors participates in Earth Day:

One year, PwC’s Green Team celebrated Earth Day by biking to work, hosting a recycling drive, and cleaning up the North Pond Nature Sanctuary in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. Now that is a productive day!

Deloitte’s Leadership Center, Deloitte University, even created a helpful infographic to show how their 700,000+ square foot campus supports a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Small changes can add up to a major impact.

Here’s another great infographic from BDO highlighting their Week of Service, where hundreds of “BDOers” gave back to their communities. Who said Earth Day could only be celebrated one day out of the year?

Don’t be discouraged. Even if you can’t get out of the house today, take a page from KPMG’s book and volunteer any day of the year!

Although we believe that every day should be Earth Day, we hope you will take the time today and join millions of people across the globe to do at least one thing that will make our planet a better place to live. HAPPY EARTH DAY!
