Discover Audit Hits the Road to Engage with Students and Introduce Rewarding Careers in Audit
Over the past two months, the new Discover Audit initiative has been on the road, visiting select college campuses with outstanding accounting/auditing programs throughout the country. Our goal was to meet and engage with students to increase awareness about the endless opportunities and benefits a rewarding career in auditing can offer. At each stop, students could participate in a fun round of auditing and accounting trivia for the chance to play our impressive prize drop game, similar to Plinko from The Price is Right.
University of Illinois
Our tour started in September at the University of Illinois College of Business at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). We were joined throughout the day by accounting professors and PhD students, many of whom had a background in audit. In addition to the UIUC Accounting Department, we also had help at the event from the Dean of College of Business at UIUC, Jeff Brown, Illinois alum Mark Daugherty, an audit staff member from Crowe Horwath and students from the UIUC chapter of Beta Alpha Psi.
University of Washington
In October, we headed west to the University of Washington. We were set up in the Husky Union Building and had over 600 students from all over campus participate throughout the day! Tasha Tieu, Washington alum and an audit staff member from Ernst & Young was there with the CAQ to share her story with college students and provide a glimpse into her career path and daily life as a young auditor.
University of South Carolina
The final stop of our tour took us back to the east coast at the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business. We had USC alum Blake Deane, an audit staff member from PwC, as well as members of the local chapter of Beta Alpha Psi with us throughout the day to help students learn more about auditing. Our area was packed all day, with hundreds of students wanting to learn more about Discover Audit!
We want to send a big thank you to our hosts and everyone who stopped by to play our game and learn more about a career in auditing. We look forward to seeing even more students at our next campus event!
